Landmark Retrievers owner Roger Conant began his career in the hotel business, working for a large hotel management company in the Chicago area. Working his way through the ranks, Roger learned many of the management and customer service skills that have made Landmark Retrievers the one of a kind training facility it is today.
Roger entered the retriever training field in 1988, working as an assistant trainer at a highly successful training facility in North Texas. Two years later, he branched out on his own, working out of his home and his truck training in local parks and neighborhood backyards. Soon, word of his unique style spread throughout the Dallas area and it was clear that this talent had developed into a business and Landmark Retrievers was born. Starting off small, Roger established his first training facility on a 1.5 acre lot in Midlothian, Texas. His first kennel building, which consisted of 20 kennel runs, was a converted horse barn. In 1996, Landmark Retrievers relocated to its current home in Ennis, Texas. Landmark Retrievers now consists of 54 kennel runs and 3 buildings, situated on 90 acres.
Roger Conant has carved a niche in the field of retriever training through his philosophy that a retriever can and should be a beloved pet and an obedient companion in the field. His client base of over 3,000 agree with that philosophy and they have worked together to successfully develop that perfect combination.
